McAfee SaaS Email Protection Training Guide – Group Administrator Role
Proprietary and Confidential Page 6-2
When users in the organization require rules other than the default inbound policy set, custom policy
sets should be created.
Inbound Policy Sets consist of the various Policy filtering options:
Virus
Spam
Content
Attachments
HMTL Shield
Click Protect
Allow / Deny Lists
Recipient Shield
Enforced TLS
Notifications
Disaster Recovery
Groups
6.2.1. Default Inbound Policy Set
As a group administrator, you can subscribe a group you own to the Default Policy; however you
cannot edit any policy actions.
6.3. Virus
The Virus filtering option allows the Administrator to configure how the system reacts if a received
email message contains a known virus. He/she can configure what happens to the message if it
cannot be cleaned.
Note: If an email message is detected that contains a widespread worm or virus, the system may
automatically deny the email and override any Virus policy settings.
When an attachment containing a virus is stripped by the service, the attachment is replaced with a
text message referencing the stripped virus. Using the default setting, McAfee attempts to clean the
message. If the message cannot be cleaned, by default, the message is denied.
